Mr. Avery,
To say your actions criticizing the making of care packages for our troops abroad is, at the minimum, despicable would be kind and generous of me to say. Although we in America are all entitled to our opinions, people like you have somehow forgotten who, in fact, makes our ability to sustain those freedoms possible; our very brave men and women in the armed services. If they were not to ‘fight the good fight,’ terrorism would clearly be at our doorstep. One need only to look ‘across the pond’ at our EU neighbors to see what ‘political correctness’ and ‘multiculturalism’ and such ‘anti-nationalism has gotten them; terrorist attacks, anarchy and mayhem in their streets.
The next time you shoot your mouth off against our troops be grateful that no one will threaten you for your hateful speech; no one will attack you or bomb your office; be grateful to those you criticized who fought for you to have that right and your ability to exercise it safely under the umbrella of liberty, freedom and democracy.
‘No one hates war more than the warrior” the old adage says. They are in harm’s way because they believe in freedom and democracy, no because they love war.
Patriotically yours in freedom and liberty,
Stephen

Hello Xavier,
The Professor doesn’t hate our troops. Reversely, he cares for our troops. He believes that our current wars are not justified. This is where you and the Professor disagree on. He also believes that the best way to support our troops is to bring them home. He also believes that the purpose of the solicitation email are not pure; they serve to legitimize the wars. However, I disagree. I think the donations coordinators have pure intentions. Also, the Professor really does care for this country. He talks about using the war resources for helping struggling homeowners and children. Also, the letter is not hate speech. He doesn’t hate the troops. He is afraid that the solicitation email will distract people from having a honest discourse on American foreign policy.
All Americans support our troops by definition. However, not everyone supports the war. Sometimes, it is hard not to become emotional when talking about our troops. You have to remember not let emotions take control of your words and focus on the issues in the letter.
For those interested, here is his letter.

Thanks for the reply – regardless of Mr. Avery’s ‘position’, to deny the troops of such simple ‘pleasures’ or necessities is, sir, shameful, regardless of how much he, or you, may claim ‘he loves this country.’
No one loves war, not even the warrior. If he truly loved this country, and it’s freedoms, he’d be packing boxes for those troops and keeping his opinions to himself.
